Which final project will you choose?
Introduction
What final project will you choose to end our poetry unit? Selecting one of the three final projects below, you’ll begin by choosing a project and creating new page on your IB learner’s portfolio. Next, you’ll continue by analyzing some examples of your project and discussing them with a partner. Finally, you’ll create an outline and begin drafting and creating your project! All project must be published on your learner’s portfolio and ready to share with our class by Tuesday, November 21st.


Duffy’s poetry has been described in a myriad of ways, including luminous, hilarious, and electric. What poems inspired or appealed to you? How would you describe our poet’s style? In this independent project you’ll . Please note, I would highly recommend doing your book review on The World’s Wife. You may choose another book of poems, but you’ll need to find a copy. Before starting your project, familiarize yourself with the format of a book







What if you could transform one Duffy’s poems by retelling a famous myth, fairytale, or story of a historical figure with a similar flair and style? How might you reimagine one of her poems through visual art? For this is an independent project, you will create an original work of art the imitates Duffy’s style and themes. Eventually, you’ll also publish this on your IB learner’s portfolio and write several paragraphs. Your writing will multiple paragraphs, including one in which you analyze the poem you chose to transform, noting the stylistic techniques that stood out; and you’ll write a paragraph in which you analyze your own work of art and how you transformed the theme and imitated Duffy’s techniques through your art.






Want to host your own poetry podcast? With this collaborative project, you’ll have your chance! Working with two to three partners, your team will present a line of inquiry and that connects to multiple poems that each partner presents. In total, your group should analyze half a dozen poems and produce a 15 to 20 minute graded discussion about half a dozen poems by Carol Ann Duffy.
